Sandy Lane Closure

Sandy Lane Closure

16th of December, 2022

The Parish Council contacted Lancashire County Council regarding the state of Sandy Lane in May and were informed that LCC were negotiating a solution between the contractor and developer.

By September, there was still no improvement and Blog Preston printed the following article - https://www.blogpreston.co.uk/2022/09/sandy-lane-road-closures-and-flooding-trigger-cottam-complaints/

Assurances were given that the matter would be resolved and the Parish Council received notification that emergency rectification works would be carried out between 24th Oct and 11th November 2022.

Members of the Parish Council were extremely disappointed to learn that the rectification works did not take place and the Parish Council submitted a formal complaint to LCC.

LCC replied that they shared the Parish Council's disappointment that the contractor failed to carry out the works as scheduled - and they have written to them to make the situation clear.

The rectification works are now taking place and LCC have advised the road will be closed for approximate 4 weeks - 28th Nov until the 22nd Dec 2022.

The Parish Council sincerely hopes that this timescale is an indication that a comprehensive resurfacing job will be done - rather than temporary patching - and this point has been made to the County Councillor covering the Woodplumpton area.
