Consultation Commenced on the future of the Parish Council
30th of October, 2024
CHANGES TO WOODPLUMPTON PARISH COUNCIL
Woodplumpton Parish Council was originally formed to represent the residents of what was at the time a rural Parish. 8 Councillors are elected by the residents of the 2 areas (known as wards) within the Parish, with 5 representing Plumpton and 3 representing Catforth.
In the last 10 years significant housebuilding in the southern part of the Parish around Bartle has resulted in an increase in the population which no longer reflects the split of councillors in the 2 wards. In addition, the Woodplumpton Parish is now made up of 2 different parts, the relatively new area around Bartle is an urban development whilst the existing area around Woodplumpton and Catforth remains predominantly rural.
The Parish Council believes that this situation should be rectified and has developed 2 alternative proposals. We would like your views on which you prefer as well as any other comments and suggestions you may have.
We have included a questionnaire explaining the 2 options along with the Autumn newsletter. We would like you to let us know your views via the voting process, which we have set out.
